HAVIT Terms of Service

Last updated: on the effective date below
Effective date: the day the HAVIT iOS app is first made available on the Apple App Store. Until that day, this document applies to the Android app only.

1. About these Terms

1.1 These Terms are an agreement between you and Mindknoll (마인드놀) ("mindknoll", "we", "us"), the sole proprietor that operates HAVIT, a mobile app that helps you plan time away from your phone, keep habits, and wake up with an alarm (the "Service"). Representative: Dong-ho Won. Business registration number: 680-24-00840. Address: 12, Yeongdang-ro, Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea (경기도 광명시 영당로 12, 1동 101층).

1.2 By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. On iOS, Apple's Standard EULA also applies to the licence to use the app (Section 10.5). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1.3 You can contact us at mindknoll@mindknoll.com.

2. What HAVIT does

2.1 HAVIT lets you:

  • create plans for time away from your screen (category, start time, length, repeat pattern);
  • run a detox session, during which the app counts the time HAVIT itself stays on your screen, and see that time as totals and percentages against your plans;
  • record your bedtime and wake-up time, and sound a wake-up alarm at the time you set, with optional snooze in ten-minute steps;
  • earn virtual room items and decorate your in-app room (see Section 9).

2.2 HAVIT counts only its own time on screen. It does not measure how long you actually slept, and it does not track how you use other apps.

2.3 HAVIT shows you the values it counted. It does not grade or rate you. Messages such as a congratulation after you pass one hour in a day are notices, not evaluations.

2.4 The Service is intended for use inside the HAVIT mobile app. Its features are not offered through a regular web browser. Only our legal documents and account-deletion information are available on the web.

2.5 Platforms: the Service is available on Android and on iOS. The iOS app requires iOS 26 or later.

3. Your account

3.1 You sign in with your Google account. On iOS you can instead sign in with Sign in with Apple. Sign in with Apple is offered in the iOS app only; the Android app offers Google sign-in only. You do not need both.

3.2 You choose a nickname. Nicknames are unique; we may refuse or ask you to change a nickname that is already taken, or that is offensive, misleading or impersonates someone.

3.3 Give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and do not share or transfer your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. Your Google or Apple account is governed by that provider's own terms. If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, Apple gives us a private relay address that differs from the email of any Google account you may have used, so signing in with Apple can create a separate HAVIT account from one you created with Google. We do not merge accounts. If you signed up with one method before, sign in with that method to reach your data.

3.4 Age. You must be at least 14 years old to use HAVIT. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 14, you may not sign up for or use the Service, and we do not offer a parental-consent route for younger users.

4. Permissions you need to allow

4.1 HAVIT is built around alarms and reminders. To start using it, the app asks for notification permission. Alarms are scheduled with the operating system's alarm facility; on some devices the system may ask for a permission related to alarms. On iOS the system asks for alarm permission separately from notification permission.

4.2 If you are new to the app and do not allow these permissions, you will not be able to continue.

4.3 If you already use HAVIT and later turn a permission off, we will not block you, but features that depend on it, especially the wake-up alarm, may not work or may arrive late.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  1. use someone else's account or let others use yours;
  2. get around the app-only design, for example with automation tools, modified apps or altered requests;
  3. tamper with the app or its requests so that recorded time or records do not reflect real use;
  4. repeatedly create and delete accounts to take a nickname that someone else is using;
  5. overload, probe or attack the Service or its servers;
  6. click ads dishonestly or generate artificial ad impressions;
  7. break the law or infringe others' rights, or use the Service to harass others (including in inquiries sent to us).

6. Messages from us and ads

6.1 Notifications. With your permission, we send reminders for your plans and sleep habit, and we send server-side notifications (reward received, reply to your inquiry, announcements, and a daily plan reminder at 09:00 local time). You can switch the server-side notifications off in the app. Sleep-related reminders depend on the alarm and notification permissions described in Section 4. We do not send marketing notifications; if we ever want to, we will ask for your separate consent first.
6.2 Inquiries. If you are signed in, you can send us a one-to-one inquiry from My page. We answer inside the app. Please do not include information you would not want us to read. Inquiries are kept until you delete your account.

6.3 Advertising. The Service is free and is supported by ads shown by Google AdMob. You cannot remove the ads in this version. Ads belong to advertisers and ad networks; we do not endorse them, and anything you do in response to an ad is between you and the advertiser. Ads are not shown on legal-document or sign-in screens. We do not treat the Service as directed to children (see Section 3.4). The data the ad SDK collects is described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Fees

The Service is free. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases at launch. If we introduce paid features later, we will add terms for fees, payment and refunds before they apply to you.

8. Deleting your account

8.1 You can delete your account and data at any time in the app: My page → Settings → Delete my account and data. If you signed in with Sign in with Apple, the app shows an Apple confirmation once more during deletion so that we can ask Apple to revoke HAVIT's sign-in authorization; your account is deleted even if you close that confirmation (see the account deletion page). If you cannot access the app (for example you uninstalled it, lost your device, or cannot sign in), email mindknoll@mindknoll.com from the email address of the account you signed up with (the address of your Google account, or, if you signed in with Apple and chose to share your email, that address), and we will delete the account within 30 days after checking the request. If you signed in with Apple and hid your email, the address on your account is an Apple private relay address, which you cannot send email from; in that case reinstall the app, sign in with Sign in with Apple using the same Apple Account, and delete the account in the app. We do not delete such an account on an email request alone. Details are on the account deletion page.

8.2 Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Your plans, sleep and detox records, room, rewards, inquiries and sign-in are erased.

8.3 To prevent immediate re-registration, we keep one-way hashes of your email address and nickname, and, if you had signed in with Apple and deleted in the app, of the identifier Apple assigned to your Apple Account for HAVIT, together with the time of deletion, for 30 days. The same account cannot sign up again during that time. A hidden Apple email address and a Google email address are different addresses, so we cannot connect a deletion made with one method to a later sign-up with the other. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

8.4 We do not delete accounts only because they are unused.

9. Virtual items and rewards

9.1 If you meet the weekly condition shown in the app (currently, passing one hour of detox time on five or more days in a week, Sunday to Saturday), the Service may grant you a virtual item such as furniture, wallpaper or flooring for your in-app room. Sleep does not count towards this condition.

9.2 Virtual items have no cash value. They cannot be bought, sold, traded, transferred or exchanged for money, and you do not own them; you receive a limited right to use them inside HAVIT while your account exists.

9.3 We may add, change or retire items, and we may withdraw an item that was granted by mistake. Items are removed when you delete your account.

10. Intellectual property

10.1 HAVIT, its name, logo, artwork, room items, text and software belong to mindknoll or its licensors and are protected by law.

10.2 We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell it except where the law allows. On iOS, the licence to use the app is also subject to the Standard EULA (Section 10.5).

10.3 Content you send us (nickname, plan names, inquiries) remains yours. You allow us to use it only to run, support and improve the Service as described in the Privacy Policy.

10.3.1 The notes you write and the photos you add to them also remain yours. For those we need less: you allow us only to store them for you, to show them back to you in the app, and to delete them with your account. We do not make them visible to other users, our administrator does not open them, and we do not use them to improve the Service or for advertising. If you press a share button, you are the one sending that picture out of the app (Privacy Policy, Section 5.1).

10.4 Third-party components and services (for example Google, Apple, and the ad network) are subject to their own terms.

10.5 Apple Standard EULA (iOS). If you install HAVIT from the Apple App Store, your licence to use the app is subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"), published at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. We have not provided a custom end user licence agreement for HAVIT, so the Standard EULA is the licence agreement for the iOS app. The Standard EULA governs your licence to use the iOS app. These Terms govern the Service (your account, acceptable use, virtual items, notices, limits and disputes). If the Standard EULA and these Terms conflict on the licence to use the iOS app, the Standard EULA prevails; in every other matter these Terms prevail. The Standard EULA has its own governing-law clause, which applies to the Standard EULA; Section 15 applies to these Terms.

11. Suspension and termination

11.1 You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account (Section 8).

11.2 We may limit, suspend or close an account if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or if your use puts the Service or others at risk. Where practical we will tell you why.

11.3 For breaches, we proceed in this order: a warning, then a temporary suspension of use, then termination of use. If you disagree with a decision, you can object by sending us a 1:1 inquiry.

12. Changes to the Service

12.1 We may change, add or remove features. If a change is clearly to your disadvantage, we will give notice in the app at least 30 days in advance.

12.2 The Service may be interrupted for maintenance, failures, power or network problems, events outside our control, or problems with providers we rely on (hosting, database, sign-in, notifications, ads).

12.3 If we stop the Service entirely, we will tell you in the app at least 30 days in advance.

13. Important limits and disclaimers

13.1 Alarms may not ring. An alarm may not sound, or may sound late, if you have turned off notification or alarm permissions; if your phone's battery saver, "do not disturb", silent settings, manufacturer app-closing policies or an operating-system update interferes; if you force-stop the app, restart the phone or the phone runs out of battery; or if the system does not allow the alarm to be scheduled. We do not guarantee that an alarm or reminder will always ring on time. Do not rely on HAVIT as your only alarm for anything important, such as a flight, medication, exam or work shift.

13.2 Counted time may differ from what you expect. Counting stops when the screen turns off or HAVIT leaves the screen. If the app closes unexpectedly, time since the last save may be lost.

13.3 Screen-on use. Keeping a screen on for long periods can cause battery drain, heat, or image retention (burn-in) on some displays. Use HAVIT sensibly, avoid covering or charging a hot phone under bedding or pillows, and stop if the device becomes hot. We are not responsible for device damage from how you use your phone.

13.4 Not health advice. HAVIT is a habit and time-management tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or advise on sleep, mental health or any medical condition. Speak to a qualified professional about health concerns. Do not make health decisions based on the app.

13.5 "As is". To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that data will never be lost.

13.6 Limit of liability. The Service is free. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from use of the Service (including missed wake-ups, lost opportunities or lost data). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for intentional misconduct or gross negligence.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version in the app and on our website with the date it takes effect. We announce changes in the app at least 7 days before they take effect, and at least 30 days before changes that are to your disadvantage. If you keep using the Service after the effective date, you accept the update; if you do not accept it, delete your account.

15. Governing law and disputes

15.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.

15.2 Disputes are handled by the court with jurisdiction under applicable law. Mandatory consumer-protection rights where you live are not affected. You may have additional rights under applicable law; contact us.

16. General

16.1 If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
16.2 Our not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it.
16.3 These Terms, with the Privacy Policy (and, on iOS, the Standard EULA as described in Section 10.5), are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
16.4 We may transfer our rights and duties under these Terms to a successor to the Service; you may not transfer yours without our consent.
16.5 These documents are provided in English.
